The last data collection dated back to 2002, just before the organization was created.<\/span><\/p><ul><li><a aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1081\"><ul><li><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The waves of denunciation with the hashtag #metoo may have given the impression that the number of sexual assaults had increased; however, it is rather the number of disclosures that has increased. This increase in victims speaking out is mainly marked by a better understanding of what sexual assault is, greater social openness to discuss the issue, and the deconstruction of prejudices related to it.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This number may also be underestimated in this type of survey since it can be embarrassing or uncomfortable to discuss by telephone the number of sexual assaults experienced, considering that calls were made to people&#8217;s homes. 48% of victims of harassment through inappropriate comments, insistent advances, or vulgar jokes experienced it more than three times in their life.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Those aged 16-34 are the most likely to have received unsolicited sexual content (photos of private parts, sexually explicit videos, etc.).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; 29% of people aged 16-34 have received it compared to 9% in the general population.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-591dd4d elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"591dd4d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #8e2e29;\"><strong><b>2- Awareness of Resources Available to Victims<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-27d6750 elementor-widget elementor-widget-toggle\" data-id=\"27d6750\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"toggle.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-4171\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"1\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-4171\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-chevron-circle-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-chevron-circle-down\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">74% of assaults where victims did not seek any form of help. When they did seek it, it was often from their loved ones.<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-4171\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"1\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-4171\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This data shows the relevance of our support service for loved ones as well as the promotion of helpful attitudes in case of disclosure, which we frequently discuss. This also relates to another recommendation made following the study, which mentions the importance of capitalizing on victims&#8217; loved ones, as this could help better direct victims to relevant resources and ensure they are heard. Not to mention the importance of informing the population about the tools available in case of assault, such as the forensic kit (sexual assault evidence kit), which only a tiny fraction of victims know about.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-toggle-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-4172\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-4172\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon elementor-toggle-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-chevron-circle-right\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened\"><i class=\"elementor-toggle-icon-opened fas fa-chevron-circle-down\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-toggle-title\" tabindex=\"0\">In less than 1 in 5 assaults, the victim reported her perpetrator to authorities.<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-4172\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-4172\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reasons for not reporting are:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uncertainty that it is really sexual assault (20% women, 4% men)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fear of turning the family against them (11% women, 16% men)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fear of not being believed (13% women, 4% men)<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Embarrassment, shame (7% women, 1% men)<\/span><\/li><li aria-level=\"1\">\u00a0<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Regarding the first reason, which consists of uncertainty that it is indeed sexual assault, this result clearly demonstrates the importance of the recommendation made following the study, which mentioned the necessity of educating the population about what sexual assault is.<\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-57d855c elementor-widget__width-initial elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"57d855c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #8e2e29;\"><strong><b>3- Awareness of CALACS and Services Offered<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-419fd8f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"419fd8f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The results regarding CALACS awareness are interesting and encouraging:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">74% of respondents know CALACS;<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50%, however, said they know little about the organization;<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">92% of women would consult CALACS in case of assault and for support for loved ones (91%).<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We observe that CALACS enjoys a high awareness rate and a positive perception.
