An adolescent girl or woman can be suppoted by CALACS for various processes related to the sexual assaults experienced:

Legal support

Legal support sessions are held individually with a counsellor. They provide information and help understand the legal system process. These sessions can help support the woman in her decision-making about filing a police report or not;

This service also provides support for women through the various stages of legal proceedings (police report, court support, etc.).

Medical Support

When there is a sexual assault, the victim can, if she wishes, go to the Designated Centres in the region (Baie-St-Paul hospital and La Malbaie hospital). The professionals on site are trained to support victims through their processes and to conduct a medicolegal intervention. Charlevoix’s CALACS counsellor can support the victim through the processes, if needed.

The medicolegal kit is offered to any person who is a victim of recent sexual assault, 5 days or less, regardless of whether they want to file a police report or not. A follow-up session with a CALACS de Charlevoix counsellor can take place after completing the medicolegal kit.

Support to Complete the IVAC Compensation Form

Support sessions to complete an application to the Crime Victims Compensation Program (Indemnisation des victimes d’actes criminels – IVAC) are by appointment with a counsellor.

A maximum of two (2) sessions is offered to allow women and adolescent girls to receive support in this process.
